Triple-A Diner Restaurant

So upsetting that the diner was closed even though I’ve always known it to be 24/7 bout 3-4 years ago. Flew back in wanting it at midnight and it was closed.

The diner was empty when I got there at 11 pm. I had an hour ride after driving an hour already. I was tired and hungry and needed a place to recharge. I ordered coffee and the Belgian Waffle Deluxe. The server acted like she was on some type of drugs, flaky and stiff movements. She came back after I ordered asking if I wanted meat with my waffle. My meal came with bacon, sausage, ham, eggs and waffle. I asked her what she meant, I thought my order came with the meats. She laughed and said she forgot I ordered the deluxe. The coffee saucer was dirty. The food wasn't seasoned, but adding a little salt and pepper helped. The server was pleasant and kind. She had no problem grabbing me more coffee. But she got an attitude when I questioned a $5 custom item on my bill. She automatically added gratuity, which she didn't spell right or could pronounce. She got an even more attitude when I didn't tip her more because I was already over my budget. I was charged for the 3 cups of coffee I had (I've worked diners for years and it was always bottomless cups with a meal). The diner wasn't bad. I've had better experiences and worst experiences at other places. Idk if I'll be back.

This place deserves a much higher rating. Came in on New Year’s Eve to a great holiday ambiance, quiet yet quaint diner vibes, highly hospitable service from friendly staff, and fantastic food at great prices. Cash only but there’s an atm inside and a Webster and Chase ATM 0.2 miles away for fee free withdrawal. Would definitely return next time in Hartford.

The staff were friendly, a good ride range of dishes on the menu. The food was tasty and plentiful. The coffee was very good. However despite our waiter disinfecting and wiping down our table. Some of the crockery and cutlery was a bit grubby.
